MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Petkevich met with Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in the city of Lucerne, Switzerland Hermann Alexander Beyeler on 4 December, BelTA has learned.
Natalya Petkevich told Hermann Alexander Beyeler: “Thank you for once again coming to our country. I’d like to express my gratitude for your bravery because, putting it politely, there are not many people like you who still stand by us despite all the onslaught. It is indeed worth a lot and we appreciate it.”
The deputy prime minister thanked the honorary consul for assistance in various fields, including for the recent decision of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) to acknowledge the ruling of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in favor of allowing Belarusian and Russian athletes to compete at international tournaments in a neutral status.
Natalya Petkevich went on saying: “We hope that FIS will comply with the court ruling after all and our athletes will be able to take part in world competitions. I know you have a great deal of plans in various branches of economy and we will discuss it at length today.”
The deputy prime minister of the Republic of Belarus mentioned interest in stepping up cooperation in healthcare, primarily in pharmaceutics, and interest in interaction in culture, including in the field of design. “You always generate many interesting ideas. We will be able to discuss all of them today and later on,” Natalya Petkevich noted. She added that opening a restaurant may be a promising avenue of bilateral business cooperation.
Hermann Alexander Beyeler thanked Natalya Petkevich for the opportunity to have this meeting and remarked that he has been working as the honorary consul of the Republic of Belarus in the Swiss Confederation since 2019.
“It is a very great honor for me. I accepted this job with great pleasure,” he said. Hermann Alexander Beyeler added that he saw a lot of possible cooperation avenues and is ready to continue making a contribution to the advancement of mutual relations. Moreover, Belarus is not a foreign country for him.
During this trip to Belarus he has already visited Vitebsk. An extensive series of meetings has been planned in Minsk as well.
