Gafarova: Relations between Belarus, Azerbaijan have very deep roots

MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) -  Relations between the fraternal peoples of Belarus and Azerbaijan have very deep roots, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova said during a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 11 June, BelTA has learned.

Relations between the peoples of the two countries, according to her, are very deeply rooted: "We were once part of the big country. Relations between peoples have been developing for centuries. It is very gratifying to understand today that the relations rely on the solid foundation.”

"We are not just friends. Our peoples maintain the level of relations that allows us to say: we are fraternal peoples. The most important thing is that in this very difficult time, a time of double standards, when many values are disappearing before our eyes, our peoples share these values," she stressed. “One of the important tasks of the current generation is to educate young people in the spirit of respect for these values,” Sahiba Gafarova is convinced.
In this regard, Sahiba Gafarova mentioned her visit to Belarusian State University where she had a meeting with the academic staff and students and where she was awarded the title of BSU honorary professor. "During the meeting with the students I urged them to always remember the path that the country has passed," Sahiba Gafarova stressed.
