MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – In an attempt to isolate and destroy Belarus and Russia, radical measures are being taken by the European Union and the West as a whole, which runs afoul of all their so-called European values, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said in an interview with the RT TV channel, BelTA informs.

“We see that in their attempt to isolate, destroy, strangle our countries, the European Union and the West as a whole are resorting to most radical measures, violating all their so-called European values, all laws and even moral principles. Of course, this is a bitter experience for us, but we must also take this into account in the future,” the foreign minister said.

Vladimir Makei was asked about the ban on broadcasting activities of the RT in Europe and whether this could be expected a few years ago. “How could we expect it? This is a ‘stronghold of democracy', ‘a bastion of human rights', ‘preachers of the good'… Many viewed the West as such idols. Everyone believed that we should follow in their footsteps,” Vladimir Makei said.

According to him, what has recently happened in Belarus and what is happening now to Russia on various international platforms, in various countries, clearly shows that it all was a cover to hide the West's true colors. “And their real goal is to establish their dominance, including through such information cover. There is no and there can be no talk about any freedom of speech or rule of law. All laws are violated... When we try, for example, to challenge some sanctions in the courts of the European Union, decisions are instantly made to change the regulations of the relevant structures, which leaves us no hope for a positive outcome,” the minister said.
