FM: West resorts to illegitimate transport, financial blockade on Belarus

MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – Relations between Belarus and Western partners predictably continued to deteriorate in 2023. The West has gone as far as to impose an illegitimate transport and financial blockade on our country, Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik said at the board meeting of the ministry, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The situation in the western direction predictably continued to deteriorate in 2023. I would like to emphasize that it was done exclusively by the hands and efforts of our partners. We have not taken a single unfriendly or aggressive step proactively. We have taken only retaliatory measures. We have always declared our readiness for an equal and mutually respectful dialogue. We are not ashamed of it and we tell the truth. This is  our strength," the minister stressed.

“The West has resorted to illegitimate transport and financial blockade on our country,” he continued. “They arbitrarily apply even their own sanctions legislation. They are harassing their business, misinforming their population, and flagrantly violating international trade law. They understand, however, that all this comes at the expense of their own interests.”

“Belarus is beginning to see some signs of common sense returning to a large number of opponents from Western countries. “We will continue this policy,” Sergei Aleinik said. “We will work hard to get free movement of vital goods, primarily humanitarian ones, resumed. We will continue to tell people in the West the truth about the actions of their politicians, which go against national interests. We see that the demand for this is steadily growing there.”
