FM: Russia, China, UAE are Belarus’ top three trading partners

MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) - Russia, China, UAE are Belarus’ top three partners and are followed by Poland and Germany, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said as he spoke at the final board meeting of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Minsk on 11 March, BelTA learned.

Maksim Ryzhenkov emphasized: “Taking into account the growing economic and political potential of the geographically distant countries, Belarus stepped up cooperation with the states of Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. We did our best to keep trade going with the countries of the European Union. Trade with a number of European countries even posted growth.

“In general, today we trade with more than 210 countries and territories. The top three trading partners are Russia, China and the UAE. They are followed by Poland and Germany,” the minister said. “Trade with Kazakhstan, Türkiye, Italy, Brazil, Uzbekistan and Italy is significant too,” he said

The minister also continued: “However, we all realize that given the full-scale sanctions policy of the EU countries, it will be much more difficult for us this year. We can already see this by the results of January. Our task is to work harder to increase efficiency in everything: in the implementation of agreements,  strengthening coordination between agencies, the preparation of documentation and in the overall organization of work”.

He noted that this concerns both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and embassies, specialists from the appropriate industries with which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cooperates closely.
