MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – Following a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to discuss preparations for the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting and the Eurasian Economic Forum, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov told journalists which world leaders are expected to attend these events in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
A plenary session with the participation of the Belarusian president and heads of foreign delegations is scheduled during the forum. All leaders of EAEU member states (Russia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan) have confirmed their personal attendance, with the exception of Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who will attend the session via video link.

According to the minister, during the plenary session, participants will present their views on the development of the region, trade and economic relations, financial ties within the EAEU and globally, and on the current international landscape.

As for the states holding observer status, an official visit to Belarus by Cuban President Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez is expected during the forum. Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has also confirmed his participation. As it was previously reported, the president of Iran is also set to attend the forum. “We still hope for the official visit of the Iranian president. Although we understand the current situation in the region and sincerely hope for a swift resolution and peace, we are still waiting for the arrival of this delegation,” Maksim Ryzhenkov said.

Delegations from Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates, Nicaragua, and Myanmar also plan to attend the forum. Myanmar will be represented by Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing.

The day after the forum, on 27 June, a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council is scheduled. “The heads of state will discuss the current agenda, make important decisions regarding the future of the EAEU, and sign two trade and economic cooperation agreement: with Mongolia and with the UAE. They will open broader opportunities to build economic ties between EAEU member states and these countries,” the minister emphasized.

As it was reported earlier, the Eurasian Economic Forum will be held at the Minsk International Exhibition Center BELEXPO on 26 June. More than 2,000 participants from 29 countries have already registered for the event, which indicates a high interest in it. Mostly these are representatives of the EAEU member states and Belarus’ biggest partners in the CIS, Asia and Africa.

The forum will run six major themes and 35 events: plenary sessions, roundtable discussions, business dialogues, etc.

The forum will be co-located with an outdoor exhibition of modern industrial, agricultural and other equipment, an exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory, and an exposition of the achievements of sovereign Belarus (clusters "Technological Country", "Diligent Country", "Beautiful Country").

As expected, the forum will open at 9 a.m. with the welcoming remarks by Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin and Chairman of the EEC Board Bakytzhan Sagintayev. Among other things the forum will focus on ways to align the economic potentials and promote trade and economic cooperation.

The final event of the forum will be the plenary session featuring the president of Belarus and the heads of foreign delegations arriving in Minsk for the EAEU events.
