MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia do not shy away from expressing their own opinion and this is the reason why the collective West is demonizing them today, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said as he opened an exhibition on the occasion of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Minsk on 1 April, BelTA has learned.
"Belarus and Russia have dared to have their opinion and speak up and this is the reason why the collective West is demonizing them, making attempts to isolate them internationally, to strangle economically and overthrow the government (they do not hesitate to talk about this openly)," Vladimir Makei said.
The minister noted that today's events in the region are the result of the West's unwillingness to heed to security concerns of other states and to accept the fact that other peoples have their own path. "One force cannot tell other states how to develop, how to build their life and future. We see a willful, arbitrary interpretation of the principles of international law, a departure from these fundamental principles," the minister said.
Vladimir Makei is convinced that justice and reason will prevail in the end. "Everyone will have to answer for their actions and for their behavior," he stressed.
