BAKU, 11 November (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is set to hold a number of bilateral talks on the sidelines of the World Climate Summit in Baku, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov told the media in Baku, BelTA has learned.
"First of all, Aleksandr Lukashenko will meet with our big friend, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan. As the presidents agreed during their last meeting in May they will review the progress in the agreements that were reached then. We are ready to discuss all the issues. We have made progress in all areas, first of all, in trade and economic cooperation," Maksim Ryzhenkov said.
The Belarusian head of state is also scheduled to meet with counterparts from Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America on the sidelines of the summit. "The bilateral agenda and, above all, trade and economic cooperation will be in focus," the minister stressed. “I am sure that in the light of the U.S. election, a certain transformation of views around the world on the Ukrainian settlement, our partners will also be interested to learn the opinion of Belarus regarding the conflict in Ukraine, taking into account the ‘weight’ of our president and involvement in many processes, and peace initiatives.”
