FM: Belarus views Türkiye as an important and promising partner

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) - Belarus views Türkiye not only as an important and promising partner, but also as a reliable friend whose relations with it are time-tested, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said at an official event to mark the 101st anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye on 29 October, BelTA has learned.

The minister said: “Both Belarus and Türkiye are led by strong leaders who do everything for the benefit of their peoples and who are deeply concerned about the problems of ordinary people. This is the main thing that unites us.”

“We are closely following the successes of Türkiye and see that your country approaches each holiday date with new significant achievements,” the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs said. “I have recently been lucky enough to visit your beautiful country and see it for myself.”

“Today Türkiye occupies a worthy place among the world's leading states, plays an important role in regional and global processes, while demonstrating constructive approaches,” Maksim Ryzhenkov said. “We are witnessing the tremendous efforts of the Turkish leadership in addressing food security issues, finding political and diplomatic solutions to conflict situations.”

The minister added: “Unfortunately, the world is increasingly facing serious challenges, including those coming from abroad. The ability of states to preserve their sovereignty and independence directly depends on successfully addressing such challenges. Let me remind you that these are our highest values - both of Türkiye’s and Belarus'. I am confident that Türkiye, like Belarus, will be able to continue to successfully overcome any difficulties and protect its achievements from external encroachments.”

“Minsk and Ankara are developing effective bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. I am convinced that further realization of the potential of the Belarusian-Turkish relations will contribute to the wellbeing of our peoples,” the minister said. “Constructive and trusting relations have been built between our countries: the most friendly contacts between the heads of state are maintained, our governments, parliaments and agencies, diplomatic services work closely together,” the minister added.

“We are working on the preparation of a number of serious initiatives and high-level visits, new significant steps towards strengthening our dialogue and implementation of investment projects,” Maksim Ryzhenkov continued. “With these important events we want to emphasize our readiness and focus on further constructive cooperation.”
