FM: Belarus stays committed to restoring peace, security in the region

MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) - Belarus remains committed to restoring peace and ensuring security in the region, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik said at the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod on 11 June, BelTA has learned.

“Since 2014 the word ‘Minsk’ has been a symbol of persistent attempts to find a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian conflict and renew the system of European security. Despite everything, we remain committed to restoring peace and ensuring security in the region,” Sergei Aleinik said.

In his words, Minsk played host to the first high-level international conference “Eurasian security: reality and prospects in a transforming world” last year. The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs invited his colleagues to join the discussions at the Minsk platform in late October-early November 2024.

“We believe in a multidimensional approach to security, which includes economic stability and social wellbeing of the peoples,” the minister added.
