MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) - Belarus has never threatened neighboring countries or the region and never will, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said as he met with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer in Geneva on 19 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"Vladimir Makei informed the ICRC president about the situation in Belarus, stressing that Belarus has never threatened neighboring countries or the region as a whole and never will," the press service said.
The parties noted the intensification of bilateral cooperation after the ICRC president's visit to Minsk in November 2017 and his meeting with the Belarusian president and expressed readiness to consider expanding humanitarian cooperation in the near future, including assistance to the Belarusian Red Cross Society. The parties have reached an agreement on joint promotion of the ICRC president's initiative to combat the threat of cyber attacks against healthcare systems within the framework of Belarus' CIS Presidency in 2021.
