MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) - Belarus has already received thousands of refugees from Ukraine, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said in an interview with China Central Television, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
When asked about the humanitarian support or assistance Belarus is providing in this situation, the minister said: “We have already received a large number of refugees from Ukraine. Despite the fact that there are no formal humanitarian corridors, citizens of Ukraine and foreign nationals are using various paths to reach Belarus alone, bringing their families, children. All of them are provided with shelter, food, and, if possible, with jobs. We will do everything to make them feel safe and comfortable. Some three thousand of such people have already crossed the border with Belarus from Ukraine. This number is increasing day by day, night by night.”
According to Vladimir Makei, the most important thing now is to find a compromise solution to all issues as soon as possible at the negotiating table, based on a balance of interests of all parties. “This is the most important thing. Belarus is ready to do its utmost to ensure the restoration of the destroyed things related to the current conflict situation,” the minister said.
