First vice premier comments on strategic documents of Belarus, UNDP

MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov has held a meeting with Liu Renfei, UNDP Resident Representative in Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.

“We are currently busy with developing the National Strategy for Sustainable Development until 2040 and the social and economic development plan for the five-year period 2025-2030 as a constituent element of the national strategy,” the deputy prime minister said. “Work is also underway on the UNDP country program for Belarus, which is to become an applied tool for achieving development goals within the framework of the individual country Belarus.”

Nikolai Snopkov expressed hope that today's meeting would give a start to the interaction of these two programs. “We very much hope that the goals of the new look of Belarus within the framework of the National Strategy of Sustainable Development until 2040 and the UNDP country program will be synchronized. Therefore, I think that our meeting will give a start to closer cooperation in this direction,” he emphasized.

In turn, Liu Renfei noted that the UNDP development program has actively cooperated with Belarus since 2021. “Thanks to our efforts, we managed to mobilize and attract $100 million to the country, which is not a fine achievement,” she said. “We could not have achieved this without the participation of our partners from Belarus. We are guided in our work by program documents, which are being prepared for the period of 2026-2030. They will be fully coordinated and synchronized with the goals that will be included in the National Strategy of Belarus and the national social and economic development plan.
