MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) - Some EU countries are xenophobic towards citizens of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov said at the international conference in Minsk to discuss regional cooperation in combating illegal migration, BelTA has learned.
Speaking at the conference, the minister has said that Belarus plans to raise the issue of hostile, insulting and boorish attitude towards citizens of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine legally residing in some EU countries.
“They are beaten, killed, raped, insulted, children are bullied at school,” Maksim Ryzhenkov said.
In his words, there is a specific and clear definition of such actions under international law. It is xenophobia, manifestation of racial superiority and discrimination on linguistic, national, and religious grounds.
“This is going to be a topic of another conference,” the minister added.
