MOSCOW, 14 February (BelTA) - Further economic integration, legislative support of the decisions taken and measures to preserve the memory of the victory over fascism during the Great Patriotic War were discussed during a meeting between Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State, Speaker of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin and State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Dmitry Mezentsev, BelTA learned from Russia's lower house of parliament.
“Dmitry Mezentsev informed Vyacheslav Volodin that the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State submitted to the Union State government the proposal to allocate RUB145.7 million as a joint contribution to the Buinich Field memorial complex project. The memorial, immortalizing the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, is being built by the decision of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Mogilev Oblast,” the press service noted.
The Union State budget for 2025 also envisages financing of the Union State international patriotic forum "Great Heritage, Common Future". The event will take place in Volgograd in the run-up to Victory Day. The Standing Committee of the Union State is willing to cooperate with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia to organize this significant event.
"The parties also touched upon the interaction with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State and confirmed the expansion of cooperation between the Standing Committee and the commissions of the Parliamentary Assembly. It was noted that members of parliament and senators of Belarus and Russia are involved in the work to promote the economic integration agenda and to implement programs and projects of the Union State," the press service added.
