EAEU prime ministers to meet in-person in Kyrgyzstan on 19-20 August

MOSCOW, 17 August (BelTA) – The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will meet in Kyrgyzstan on 19-20 August, BelTA learned from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting will take place in-person in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan on 19-20 August and will feature the heads of government of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), observer states at the EAEU – Cuba and Uzbekistan, the chairperson of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC),” the EEC said.

The heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union countries will consider a list of exemptions and restrictions on the internal market of the Eurasian Economic Union to be eliminated in 2021-2022, the issue of aligning unilateral non-tariff measures, set for the export of goods, and also export customs duties. The participants of the meeting are expected to discuss issues of state (municipal) procurement, distribution of import customs duties between the budgets of the member states in 2020. The council also plans to discuss measures of insurance support for the member states’ mutual and foreign trade.

“The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will consider issues related to the formation of a high-level working group on digital transformation in the EAEU, the development of the Eurasian (regional) organization for accreditation in conformity assessment, an action plan (road map) on the implementation of the main areas and stages of the EAEU coordinated transport policy for 2021-2023, and an action plan (road map) to develop a common market of organic agricultural products within the Eurasian Economic Union,” the press service said.

The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will also hear the annual report of the EEC on the regulatory impact of the commission's resolutions in 2020, and the reports on the progress made in 2020 to set up the EAEU common markets for oil and petroleum products and the EAEU common gas market.

"The prime ministers will review a plan of priority measures to develop the Eurasian digital transport corridors and routes with an aim of promoting trade and economic cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and the People's Republic of China, to ensure the equal opportunities for participation in the program to purchase agricultural machinery and equipment in the Republic of Kazakhstan for manufacturers from the EAEU and third countries, to develop the EAEU’s uniform approaches to the global climate agenda. Plans are in place to sign, on the sidelines of the summit, a memorandum on assistance to sustainable development of the transit potential and environmental safety of the EAEU railway transport," the EEC added.
