Documents on CSTO observer, partner status enter into force

MOSCOW, 20 January (BelTA) – The CSTO has completed ratification of the documents on granting an observer and partner status at the CSTO, as well as protocols on amending the fundamental documents of the organization: the Collective Security Treaty, the CSTO Charter and the agreement on the legal status of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told BelTA.

These documents were signed on 8 November 2018. They provide for regulatory changes related to the composition of the Collective Security Council and the legal status of the CSTO deputy secretaries general.

In order to boost cooperation with non-member states and international organizations, the third protocol on amending the Collective Security Treaty Organization Charter establishes a legal basis for granting an observer status and a partner status at the CSTO,” the press secretary said.

“These protocols entered into force on 19 January 2021,” Vladimir Zainetdinov added.
