MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) – An increasing number of bilateral meetings and negotiations will give additional impetus to relations between Belarus and India, Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of India in the Republic of Belarus Rajesh Kumar said at a ceremony to mark the Republic Day of India, BelTA has learned.
“People-to-people contacts continue to develop through tourism, cultural events, education and professional training. The ever-growing number of Indian students at Belarusian universities, especially medical students, is another indicator of an uptick in bilateral cooperation,” the diplomat said.
“In 2024, we exchanged several delegations engaged in defense research, science and technology, agriculture and food industry, pharmaceuticals and business. There was also an exchange of visits of high-ranking officials. We had the honor of hosting the president of the Republic of Belarus at the Voice of the Global South Summit that was held in an online format,” Rajesh Kumar added.
The charge d'affaires emphasized that in 2024 Belarus and India continued to interact at international forums. “India welcomes Belarus' accession to BRICS as a partner country,” he noted.
Rajesh Kumar recalled that the minister of foreign affairs of Belarus met with the external affairs minister of India on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Astana, as well as on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York. “I am confident that such dynamics will give additional impetus to the relations between Belarus and India,” he added.
