MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – Belarus-Russia relations have entered a period of great opportunities, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak said during a meeting with Governor of Russia’s Altai Territory Viktor Tomenko in Minsk on 27 May, BelTA has learned.

“Direct contacts between Belarus and Russian regions have always been one of the priorities of bilateral relations and the core of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Today, when Belarus-Russia relations have entered a period of great opportunities, it is within our power to make the most of cooperation potential and quickly resolve any problematic issues,” said Anatoly Sivak.

He noted that Belarus and Altai Territory have been cooperating for many years. “You have brought a business delegation to Minsk; they are set to hold substantive meetings and negotiations with representatives of Belarusian enterprises and departments. The ninth meeting of the Belarus-Altai Territory cooperation commission is expected to result in signing important bilateral documents. Despite some slowdown in our trade, the cooperation potential is enormous. I hope that your visit will give an additional impetus to our partnership,” the deputy prime minister noted.
