Customs services of Belarus, Russia work on package of integration documents

MINSK, 16 September (BelTA) – The customs services of Belarus and Russia are preparing a package of documents on integration, Deputy Head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia Vladimir Ivin told the media on 16 September, BelTA has learned.

“A whole package of the Union State programs has been recently approved. One of the programs is aimed at developing integration in customs administration. In this regard, today's meeting of the board of the Customs Committee of the Union State will be special, as the board will have more executive practical functions in its activities. Today we will discuss and lay down the mechanisms that will enable us to prepare a package of documents for the implementation of integration processes within the short time frame outlined by the heads of state - from the interstate agreement to the documents of the Union State Council of Ministers and interagency documents,” Vladimir Ivin said.

According to him, adjustments will affect almost all documents that previously defined the joint activities of the customs services of Belarus and Russia, and will bring it to a higher level. “When these documents come into force, it will be not just coordinated cooperation, but also movement to an integrated and in some cases unified application of customs administration. This is a very important step. This year we need to complete our work with a package of documents so that we could launch the new mechanisms outlined in the Union State programs next year. It is a complicated issue with tight deadlines. However we have an absolute understanding with our colleagues from the State Customs Committee of Belarus. The main discussion is focused on organizational issues: we are looking into how it will work,” the deputy head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia said.

Minsk played host to the 12th international conference “30 Years of Customs Service of Independent Belarus: with the Experience of the Past to the Synergy of the Future” on 16 September. The conference highlighted ways to improve customs regulations in the EAEU, the main aspects of the implementation of the new version of the law “On Customs Regulation in the Republic of Belarus”, the functioning of the electronic declaration center, digital customs technologies and services.
