MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez will pay an official visit to Belarus on 25-26 June, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Belarus Santiago Pérez Benítez told journalists during a meeting with Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova in Minsk, BelTA reports.
“He has decided to pay an official visit and attend the EAEU summit in Minsk. He has not been to brotherly Belarus for a long time,” the diplomat noted.
According to him, the leaders of the two states have developed strong and trusting relations. “He has excellent relations with Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko, they regularly meet at various international events,” Santiago Pérez Benítez emphasized.
According to the ambassador, the upcoming visit will mark an important milestone in Belarus-Cuba relations. “We have no doubt that this will give tremendous impetus to our cooperation,” he remarked.
Natalya Kochanova and the Cuban diplomat discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation, including interaction in healthcare and pharmaceutics, manufacturing, science, tourism and culture, inter-parliamentary contacts, as well as implementation of joint projects in the social and humanitarian spheres.
