MOSCOW, 26 September (BelTA) - A protocol of the meeting of the Kyrgyz and Tajik delegations to stabilize the situation in the border areas of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan was signed by the heads of the competent authorities of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, and the CSTO Secretariat welcomes this step, reads the the CSTO Secretariat commentary.
The document has been signed to prevent provocative actions and conflicts and to ensure peace and stability in the border areas. "We welcome the agreement by the parties to complete the project description of the passage of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border in the remaining sections in a speedy manner," the commentary says.
"We believe that the agreement reached by the Kyrgyz and Tajik sides not to set up border posts near the border section where military clashes took place will make a great contribution to the stabilization of the situation on the border," the CSTO Secretariat emphasized.
"Any attempts to use force to resolve controversial issues are unacceptable, all border disagreements must be resolved exclusively by political and diplomatic means. We hope that the protocol will be fully implemented and peace and mutual understanding will be restored on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan," the CSTO Secretariat said.
