MOSCOW, 6 January (BelTA) - The CSTO Secretariat has confirmed its decision to deploy peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan, BelTA has learned.
“The Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization confirms that Kazakhstan has requested for help. The appeal states that the situation is considered as an invasion by armed gangs trained abroad,” the CSTO spokesman said.
“Kazakhstan held consultations with members of the CSTO Collective Security Council and addressed the heads of the CSTO member states with a request for military assistance for the Republic of Kazakhstan. The CSTO Collective Security Council decided to send the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces to the Republic of Kazakhstan to stabilize and normalize the situation in the country,” the CSTO Secretariat stressed.
