MOSCOW, 8 December (BelTA) - The Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA), during its meeting in Moscow on 8 December, approved a model agreement on cooperation among CSTO member states in the use of new types of weapons and technologies for the purpose of ensuring collective security and upholding the principles and norms of international humanitarian law, BelTA has learned.
The agreement addresses matters of joint planning and collective coordination in the use of new weapon types and technologies; joint financing, organizational and technical, economic, scientific and methodological, and information support for the development and use of new weapons and technologies; and conducting joint humanitarian and legal assessments of new weapon types and technologies adopted by the parties and used by national contingents that are part of CSTO troop (collective force) components.
The document also establishes forms of cooperation between countries in this area. Specifically, CSTO member states will conduct operations to suppress the illicit trafficking of new weapon types and technologies, jointly develop standards to enhance the protection of critical infrastructure against new weapons and technologies, equip CSTO collective forces with new weapon types, and exchange experience in the development, production, use, disposal of, and defense against new weapons and technologies.

The meeting participants also adopted recommendations on improving the legislation of CSTO member states in civil protection, on the convergence and harmonization of criminal and administrative legislation of CSTO member states regarding the security of critical information infrastructure, and on the harmonization of criminal legislation of CSTO member states establishing liability for crimes against peace and the security of humankind.
Furthermore, the CSTO PA adopted a model law on counter-terrorism.
The Belarusian delegation to the meeting was headed by Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko.
