CSTO invigorated by latest Collective Security Council session

MOSCOW, 1 July (BelTA) - A session of the Collective Security Council held in December last year gave the CSTO a new impetus on all fronts, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas said at a meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly in Dushanbe, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told BelTA.

"In general, all the decisions taken at the December meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council gave a new impetus to the organization's activities in all its main areas," Stanislav Zas said.

Stanislav Zas said that the Collective Security Council adopted a declaration expressing concern over the degrading security mechanisms in the world, rising tensions, including in the Eurasian space. “It stressed that the CSTO will increase its participation in global efforts to ensure peace and security, consistently advocating for the resolution of international and regional conflicts mainly by peaceful political and diplomatic means within the framework of the internationally recognized negotiating formats," said Stanislav Zas.

He also recalled that the heads of the CSTO member states approved the declaration on promoting a just and sustainable world order and reaffirmed their commitment to working together towards a free, democratic, common and indivisible Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian security community from Vancouver to Vladivostok.
