MOSCOW, 6 June (BelTA) - A meeting of the CSTO Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 6 June, BelTA learned from the CSTO press service.
The secretaries of the security councils of the CSTO member states discussed the situation in the CSTO area of responsibility and measures to neutralize challenges and threats to collective security. Decisions were made to coordinate the military and political activities of the CSTO member states.
Separately, the participants in the meeting reviewed the draft CSTO special interstate program to reinforce the Tajik-Afghan border. The heads of delegations signed a number of documents, including the plan for the joint training of the collective security system's command bodies and formations for 2025.
A delegation of the State Secretariat of Belarus’ Security Council led by State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich took part in the work of the statutory body. In his speech, the head of the Belarusian delegation talked about the unprecedented aggravation of the military and political situation in the Eastern European region of the CSTO's collective security.
The Belarusian side suggested developing dialogue on a new system of international security within Eurasia using the potential of the CIS, the SCO, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and drawing up the CSTO Collective Security Strategy for the period up to 2035.
On the margins of the forum in Almaty, Aleksandr Volfovich and his colleagues discussed ways of promoting bilateral cooperation between the offices of the Security Councils and other topical issues related to the joint work of the security agencies of the member states.
