MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) - The CIS observation mission, on the invitation of Moldova, began monitoring the preparation and conduct of the early elections to the Moldovan parliament, BelTA learned from the mission headquarters.
In consultation with the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives, the mission is headed by Dmitry Kobitsky, CIS IPA Council Secretary General, the head of the CIS IPA Council Secretariat.
The CIS observers informed Chairman of the Moldovan Central Election Commission Dorin Cimil that the mission will be working in compliance with the Moldova election laws, independently, on the basis of the generally recognized principles and norms of international law in the organization and conduct of elections. The mission is to evaluate the election campaign for compliance with national legislation.
For his part, Dorin Cimil spoke in detail about the election campaign and the measures taken by the election authorities to prepare the elections. He also noted the important role of international observation in the electoral process.
