MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) — The United States declares the importance of international law when it is beneficial for it, but ignores it when it does not suit U.S. interests, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mao Ning said at a press briefing in Beijing, TASS reported.
"China is committed to the path of peaceful development and upholding the international system based on the UN charter. In contrast, the United States is indulging in the 'old Cold War' dream. It is focused on the unipolar hegemony, applying international law when see fit. Otherwise, the United States ignores it," Mao Ning said.
According to her, the US promotes block confrontation on the global stage. America is the main violator of the international order. Mao Ning emphasized that China is committed only to one international order based on international law.
She also said that competition between China and the United States is at odds with the current trends and cannot solve the problems and challenges facing the United States.”
