Chief of Belarusian army's General Staff participates in CSTO Military Committee session

MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) – Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Belarusian First Deputy Defense Minister Viktor Gulevich took part in a session of the CSTO Military Committee in Moscow, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

Participants of the session discussed the military political situation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization's collective security regions. In particular, Viktor Gulevich expressed Belarus' opinion about the situation. He spoke at length about the aspects the Eastern European region is characterized with. Continued NATO activities near the borders of Russia and Belarus was mentioned, including the deployment of intelligence-gathering centers and transportation hubs, the improvement of military infrastructure facilities, including the ability to receive troops.

Apart from that, participants of the session heard out and discussed reports about priority areas of the Collective Security Treaty Organization's work in the military sphere, which Tajikistan had come up with for the duration of the country's presidency in the organization in 2021. Matters concerning the joint training of command and control bodies and forces of the CSTO collective security system in 2021 were also discussed.

The practice of arranging joint combat training events using a common background of the simulated military political situation and the military strategic situation will continue this year. All the exercises will be interrelated as far as their goals, tasks, locations, and timing are concerned, including during the joint strategic exercise Boyevoye Bratstvo 2021 [Combat Brotherhood].

The Belarusian side stressed it constantly participates in such events. This year Belarusian army units will participate in all constituent exercises of the strategic exercise Boyevoye Bratstvo 2021.

Participants of the session also discussed the operation of the CSTO Crisis Response Center and other matters of current interest. A joint protocol was signed as a result.

The session took place in the Russian Defense Ministry's patriotic culture and entertainment park Patriot. The guests visited the key temple of the Russian army and the museum complex Memory Road. They laid wreaths at the Mother of the Victors Monument.
