MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) – China ready to strengthen political and social foundation of friendship with Belarus, Deputy Head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Chen Zhou said as he met with Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko in Minsk on 22 April, BelTA has learned.
"It is a great honor for me and Ambassador Xie Xiaoyong [Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus] to visit the House of Representatives. Taking this opportunity, I would like to once again congratulate you on your election to the post of Chairman of the House of Representatives," Chen Zhou said as he addressed Igor Sergeyenko.
Chen Zhou expressed confidence that in his new post, Igor Sergeyenko will make an even greater contribution to the development of all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership. "We know you as a long-time good friend of the Chinese Communist Party and the International Department of the CPC Central Committee. When you were the head of the Belarus President Administration, you did a lot to strengthen the political and strategic mutual trust between China and Belarus," he stressed.
Chen Zhou noted that the purpose of the visit of the Chinese delegation to Belarus is to realize the consensus reached by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, and to strengthen friendship and cooperation.
“Our all-weather and all-round strategic partnership has been gaining momentum. Last year, President Lukashenko made two visits to China. The leaders of our countries reached important consensuses on the further development of bilateral relations. In recent years, cooperation within the framework of the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative has been progressively advancing. A number of major projects are already yielding results. Among them is the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone. During the visit, we specially allocated time to tour the park,” Chen Zhou noted.
He also noted that trade between Belarus and China is breaking new records. Last year, it exceeded $8.4 billion. Cooperation is developing in the fields of science and technology, education, culture, tourism, medicine and others.
"We have established the inter-party ties, including between the legislative bodies of Belarus and China. We noted that the National Assembly of Belarus of the eighth convocation includes all the main political forces of Belarus. The Communist Party of China maintains close and friendly ties with the Belaya Rus Party, the Communist Party of Belarus, and the Liberal Democratic Party. We are ready to further our cooperation and exchanges with the main political parties of the National Assembly and fill them with new content so as to constantly strengthen the social and political foundation of friendship between the two countries," Chen Zhou assured.
