Call for tougher parliamentary control over Belarus-Russia Union State programs

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko met with Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin in Yerevan on 6 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

The parties discussed the efforts of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State to implement the agreements reached by the presidents of the two countries to promote import substitution, intensify cooperation in the manufacturing industry, re-direct commodity flows, etc. The speakers deem it necessary to toughen parliamentary control over the implementation of 28 Union State programs approved by the Decree of the Supreme State Council of the Union State on 4 November 2021.

The chairman of the House of Representatives emphasized the importance of exchanging legal information with all government bodies in order to synchronize ratification of international treaties and to bring legislation in line with provisions of international treaties.

In addition, the meeting discussed the interaction of the Union State parliamentarians in international organizations with a view to preventing destructive initiatives of the collective West aimed at the total destruction of any alternative to a unipolar world and the U.S. hegemony.
