Bosnia and Herzegovina condemns West's sanctions against Belarus

MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Hungary with concurrent accreditation to Bosnia and Herzegovina Aleksandr Ponomarev paid a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina to discuss with its leadership the plans to develop political and economic cooperation, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

“The ambassador was received by member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik. The parties discussed the internal political situation in Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina and also plans for mutually beneficial political, trade and economic cooperation,” the embassy said.

The parties praised friendly relations between the two nations and emphasized “the unacceptability of foreign interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states and the illegality and counterproductivity of sanctions introduced by Western countries against Belarus and Bosnia and Herzegovina”.

The parties also lauded the performance of the office of the Honorary Consul of Belarus to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was opened in December 2020, and the personal contribution of Honorary Consul Nedeljko Elek to the expansion of ties between the two countries.

Aleksandr Ponomarev, accompanied by a business delegation from Gomel Oblast, held meetings in the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina. “Following the talks with Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction and Environment Srebrenka Golic, agreements were reached to expand bilateral trade and economic cooperation, and a schedule of bilateral visits for 2022 was agreed,” the Belarusian diplomatic mission said.

The delegation of Gomel Oblast also held negotiations in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the chambers of commerce and industry, enterprises, educational institutions, and tourism companies. They resulted in several agreements on cooperation. The delegation included representatives of the Gomel branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Mashinostroitel sanatorium of the Gomselmash enterprise, the Skaryna Gomel State University, the Gomelstroymaterialy and Agroponka companies.
