MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – The bill on amending the Constitution is ready for the first reading during the spring session, BelTA learned from Chairman of the State Building, Local Self-Government and Regulations Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Valentin Semenyako on 4 June.
The MP said: “According to the established procedure the bill has been prepared and approved by permanent commissions. We've received a conclusion from expert bodies. Minor technical amendments have been introduced. As a matter of fact, the bill is ready for debates.”
In his words, the bill will be given the first reading in June. It is supposed to be given the second reading during the autumn session of the parliament.
A session of the special commission in charge of drafting the bill on amending the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus is taking place today. “The commission includes heads of permanent commissions of the House of Representatives. Members of the parliament were also invited to participate in today's session. It is an expanded-participation session, during which we will discuss all the procedural matters and will make the relevant decision,” the MP said.
The bill, which had been brought into the House of Representatives of the National Assembly by the head of state, provides for electing members of councils of deputies on one ballot day. The 28th convocation municipal councils of deputies will discharge their duties until the municipal councils of deputies to be elected on the single voting day assume their duties.
