MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarus Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko talked about how representatives of alternative forces can participate in the forthcoming 6th Belarusian People's Congress as he spoke to the media on 2 February, BelTA has learned.
“The president stressed that the meeting should provide an opportunity for different points of views. The meeting should not be sterile. Of course, the majority of delegates are people who support the current course, advocate a strong country and do not want it to collapse. However, besides the delegates, there will be invited guests. There will be almost 2,400 delegates, and more than 300 invitees. Although they are not eligible to vote, they will be able to speak at the meeting. They represent all registered political parties. Invitations are being sent. Who will take advantage of these invitations? Except, of course, those who broke the law and deliberately took the other side, thereby violating the legislation of Belarus,” the prime minister said.
“People from among those invited, who represent alternative forces, who have a different vision will also be given the floor. The head of state's instruction to hear out different points of view will be fulfilled. Another thing is how constructive they will be. Delegates will listen,” said Roman Golovchenko.
He added that the alternative point of view may not be necessarily oppositional. “We have heard alternative points of view, including as part of the activities in preparation for the Belarusian People's Congress. Sometimes they are very alternative yet pro-state. They are aimed at making the state stronger, more resistant to external threats,” Roman Golovchenko explained.
