Belarusian parliament's address to president adopted

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) - At a meeting of the fifth session of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus of the seventh convocation senators adopted an address to the president to introduce a bill to the House of Representatives on amending the Constitution, which provides for the simultaneous holding of elections to the local councils of deputies of the 29th convocation and to the House of Representatives of the 8th convocation, BelTA has learned.

Chairman of the Council of the Republic's Standing Committee on Legislation and Nation Building Sergei Sivets said that the issue was discussed at the joint session of the chambers of the Belarusian parliament on 19 May.

“The address to the head of state contains a request to submit a bill to amend the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus under Article 138 of the Constitution, which provides for simultaneous elections to local councils of deputies of the 29th convocation and to the House of Representatives of the 8th convocation,” the senator said.

The address was unanimously supported by the MPs.
