MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov talked about peculiarities of cooperation with Myanmar on the air of the TV channel Belarus One, BelTA has learned.
According to the minister, working with Myanmar is both easy and complicated. It is easy because there is mutual interest and the intention to honor the agreements that have been reached.
“And it is complicated because first of all, the distance is great. Secondly, the lack of knowledge about each other for a long time makes it necessary to work out new, creative tools to facilitate our cooperation and trade,” Maxim Ryzhenkov said.
BelTA reported earlier that Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko went to Myanmar on an official visit in late November.
“It is my first visit to Myanmar, I am sincerely glad of it. And since your arrival in Belarus in March was the first official visit of the Myanmar leader to our country, then we can say that the year 2025 is a historic one in our relations,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said during negotiations with Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Min Aung Hlaing.
About 30 documents were signed during the president’s visit to Myanmar. The key ones are the roadmap on cooperation in 2026-2028 and an agreement on a mutual visa waiver. Another important agreement of the leaders of the two countries was the decision to upgrade the status of Myanmar’s diplomatic mission in Minsk to the level of the embassy.
