MINSK, 21 June (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik informed participants of the session of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Almaty, Kazakhstan about the situation at the western borders of the CSTO perimeter, BelTA has learned.

After the session the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs told reporters: “The security situation evolving in the global and regional context was discussed in detail during the session.”

Sergei Aleinik also stressed: “We informed colleagues from the CSTO countries about the situation at the western borders of the CSTO perimeter. We informed them about the continued tendency towards militarization of the space near the border, the rising military potentials, rising military spending that Western countries continue increasing.”

“There is no doubt it leads to further escalation of tensions and to higher risks and threats to security of not only Belarus but all the CSTO member states,” the Belarusian minister of foreign affairs concluded.
