MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – The collective West is trying to bend the possible instruments of international politics and economy to its own interests, promoting the solutions that benefit the West. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov expressed the point of view during a solemn function held at the International Relations Department of Belarusian State University on 25 April on the occasion of International Delegate’s Day, BelTA has learned.
Maxim Ryzhenkov noted: “When you read about some sanctions that are being introduced against Belarus, Russia, China, Iran, and other countries, they have nothing to do with bringing us closer to democracy.”
The minister of foreign affairs explained: “They try to deal with us as with competitors, who are starting to manifest themselves economically, politically, and even in social positioning more actively than before. They don’t like that.”
“Nobody in the West wants other countries outside their bloc to develop nowadays. Because they like simple trade: buy resources, sell some goods that are made in the West. And once states start developing their own infrastructure and manufacturing sector, they stop needing some Western goods. And it turns out that you need to buy resources but with what will you pay for them if your goods don’t sell?” the minister continued.
“This is why they need to slow down the growth of these countries. It is obvious. This is why Western countries are trying to increasingly take advantage of the tools available within the framework of the UN General Assembly, the UN Security Council,” the minister of foreign affairs noted.
He pointed out that organizations like BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as well as various regional organizations on various continents across the globe are starting to gain influence and authority in the international arena.
