Belarusian FM to pay official visit to Russia on 9-10 June

MOSCOW, 4 June (BelTA) - Belarusian Foreign Affairs Minister Maksim Ryzhenkov will pay an official visit to Russia on 9-10 June, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said during a briefing on 4 June, BelTA has learned.

"At the invitation of the Russian Foreign Affairs Minister, Maksim Ryzhenkov will visit Moscow on 9-10 June. During the negotiations, the ministers of foreign affairs of Belarus and Russia are set to discuss a wide range of current issues concerning bilateral cooperation and international affairs. The parties will address practical aspects of ministerial cooperation between the two countries, including preparations for a joint meeting of the boards of the Foreign Affairs Ministries of Belarus and Russia, scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg in the fourth quarter of this year. The parties will also review the progress of the foreign policy coordination program for 2024-2026 between the member states of the [Belarus-Russia] Union State Treaty, as well as the agenda for ministerial consultations for this year," Maria Zakharova stated.

According to her, during the ministers' negotiations special attention will be given to the issue of indivisible security on the Eurasian continent. "The parties will review preparations for the III Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security. A joint appeal is planned to be signed by foreign ministers of Eurasian states to promote the continent-wide Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st century. The discussion will also touch upon diplomatic support for integration processes within the Union State and interstate cooperation in the CIS, EAEU, CSTO, SCO, BRICS, engagement with constructive states in the Global South and East and with unfriendly countries and alliances," the spokeswoman noted.

"The ministers also plan to exchange views on the settlement of the Ukraine crisis and discuss the ongoing direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine," she added.

Maria Zakharova stated that the Belarusian Foreign Affairs Minister’s visit will include a meeting with Russian media representatives, a speech to Russian and Belarusian students at leading Moscow universities, a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and a visit to a military museum in Moscow.
