MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) - The accusations against Belarus are absurd, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei said in an interview with CNN, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"In an exclusive interview with CNN Vladimir Makei dismissed the accusations against Belarus of engineering the situation on the Belarusian-Polish border put forward by some politicians as absurd. He also spoke about Belarus' proposals to resolve the situation," the ministry said in a statement.
In the interview with the U.S. TV network, Vladimir Makei denied the accusations against Belarus of manufacturing the migrant crisis on the border with the EU, calling them "a fundamentally wrong assessment of the situation."
"It's a dramatic situation. According to our data, among the refugees there are more than 600 women and 200 children. Watching them suffer is difficult for any normal person. We are not interested in having such a situation here, in Belarus," the minister stressed.
Vladimir Makei stressed the responsibility of the European Union for the situation on the border. He noted that migrants, having heard about the privileges promised by the EU countries –neighbors of Belarus to "migrants from Belarus", decided that the country is the most comfortable way for them to get to Europe.
The minister also denied the accusations against Russia of its possible involvement in the situation with refugees on the Belarus-EU border.
