MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – Belarus sees closer integration with Russia as mutually beneficial, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said in an interview with RT TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“I would not say that Belarus is besieged today. If we take a look at the map, we share over 1,300km of our 3,500km border with Russia. As you can see, political, trade, economic, humanitarian and military contacts have been developing rapidly, especially recently, which is facilitated by the relevant policy of our Western partners,” Vladimir Makei said.
According to him, further integration with the main ally holds good prospects. "Most importantly is that these prospects are mutually beneficial. I believe that this is of fundamental importance," the minister stressed.
