Belarusian diplomats convene in Minsk for annual seminar

MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) - The Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of Belarus is hosting an annual seminar of heads of diplomatic missions and consulates of Belarus in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

Opening the seminar, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei outlined the current environment that Belarus is operating in and recalled the foreign policy priorities.

During the seminar, which will last for a week, Belarusian diplomats will have a meeting in the government, talk with representatives of various ministries and departments, banking institutions, corporations and enterprises.

"The list of topics of the current seminar is extensive. These are not only economy and trade. Today, it is especially important to clearly understand and improve our capabilities to counter and minimize the external challenges and threats, both long-standing and emerging," said Vladimir Makei. "Emphasis will be placed on import substitution in the context of countering the Western sanctions, analyzing the Western sanctions in the banking sector and the possibilities of minimizing them."

Diplomats will also discuss ways to solve the emerging problems in the field of passenger, freight road and rail transportation.

Rector of the Academy of Public Administration Vyacheslav Danilovich, in turn, noted that the seminar will consider a significant number of economic issues, the situation of Belarus and its development amid the sanctions pressure.

“Consideration will be also given to the hybrid war unleashed against our country, the genocide of the Belarusian people during the war. We have been working to bring this agenda to the international level," Vyacheslav Danilovich added.
