Belarusian ambassador to Russia, CIS secretary general discuss economic cooperation

MOSCOW, 12 July (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia, Belarus’ plenipotentiary representative in the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Belarus’ special representative for matters of integration cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States Aleksandr Rogozhnik met with Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Sergei Lebedev, the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic mission told BelTA.

Aleksandr Rogozhnik and Sergei Lebedev discussed topical matters of cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Close attention was paid to the organization of the work of the Economic Council and the Commission for Economic Affairs under the CIS Economic Council. Aleksandr Rogozhnik confirmed Belarus’ interest in bolstering the CIS authority as an integration association and in deepening the all-round cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The need to further expand interaction of the CIS member states in economic affairs and realize the agreements reached during sessions of CIS charter bodies was emphasized.

Aleksandr Rogozhnik and Sergei Lebedev agreed it is important to continue working together within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States on matters relating to ensuring security. Sergei Lebedev was thankful for Belarus’ invitation to participate in the second international high-level conference on Eurasian security, which is due in Minsk on 31 October – 1 November 2024. He confirmed he was ready to act as a speaker during the conference.
