Belarus' youth parliament calls on West to stop using refugees for its political ends

MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – The Youth Parliament of the National Assembly of Belarus calls on the West to stop using refugees for their political purposes, Deputy Chairwoman of the Committee on Information Policy, Technology and Public Relations of the Youth Parliament Ilona Illarionova told the media on 16 November, BelTA has learned.

“We are totally against the aggravation of the situation near our western borders. For past nine days we have been observing the conditions under which these poor people, including pregnant women, children, and the elderly are trying to survive. Many thanks to our journalists who have been covering everything that is going on there. We cannot stay aside and remain indifferent. The Youth Parliament has adopted a statement where we are calling on Western politicians to stop using these people for their political ends and give them what they want. They do not want to live in a tent on the border of two countries. They want a better life which they have been promised. All these promises must be fulfilled,” said Ilona Illarionova.

According to the young MP, the topic of the migrant crisis and its origins are constantly discussed during meetings with students.
