MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) - Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik met with the outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Türkiye to Belarus Mustafa Ozcan in Minsk on 12 January, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
“During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda. The parties reaffirmed mutual commitment to developing a political dialogue, welcomed the positive dynamics in trade and economic cooperation, and outlined further steps to implement the agreements reached at the highest and high levels,” the press service said.
The minister thanked the outgoing ambassador for his services to the Belarus-Turkiye relations, efforts to intensify political ties and expand trade and economic ties.
As it has been reported, in the autumn of 2023, Belarus and Türkiye held a meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in Ankara. Then Sergei Aleinik stated that the two countries maintain stable business ties , that there is a good basis for the further development of cooperation not only at the intergovernmental and interdepartmental levels, but also at the level of interregional cooperation.
To increase trade in food products, the parties agreed to step up cooperation in agriculture. In particular, the final protocol of the meeting of the commission stated the readiness of the countries to complete the procedures on the veterinary questionnaire sent by Belarus by the end of 2024, and also the intention to hold the second meeting of the working group on agriculture early next year
