MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Turkey Viktor Rybak met with Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavas, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy.
“The parties discussed humanitarian contacts between the capitals of Belarus and Turkey as part of the sister cities agreement ,” the Belarusian diplomatic mission informed. “In addition, they discussed trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Turkey.”
The Republic of Turkey became the first foreign state to recognize the independence of the Republic of Belarus. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 25 March 1992. In 2022 Belarus and Turkey will mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties. In 1992 the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey was opened in Minsk, in 1997 the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus was opened in Ankara.
