
MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) - Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Sekreta participated in a meeting of the Sustainable Development Council, chaired by Sergei Khomenko, National Coordinator for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The event focused on the preparation of two national reports, which Belarus will present at the UN in 2025: the third Voluntary National Review on progress in implementing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the national report for the Universal Periodic Review of the fourth cycle, established by the UN Human Rights Council.
Participating in the meeting were representatives from government agencies, parliament, society organizations, youth, business, UN agencies in Belarus, and international experts, who shared their perspectives on SDG implementation in Belarus.
The assessments and proposals from the meeting participants will be incorporated into Belarus' national review on SDGs, which will be presented at the UN during the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in New York in July 2025.
The meeting also outlined tasks and set directions for joint work to prepare for the Universal Periodic Review by the UN Human Rights Council. The fourth cycle of review will begin in Geneva on 3 November 2025.
