MINSK, 31 December (BelTA) - During its presidency in the CIS in 2021 Belarus intends to counter attempts to falsify the history of the Great Patriotic War. This is provided in the concept of Belarus Presidency in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2021, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs .
“The foreign policy priorities of Belarus' CIS Presidency are to deepen cooperation between the ministries of foreign affairs in the international arena in order to coordinate approaches and mechanisms for promoting the most important foreign policy issues at various international venues, to coordinate the work on joint statements reflecting the common views of the CIS member states on the current regional and global agenda,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.
In line with the concept, Belarus intends to continue holding multilateral consultations to discuss matters of mutual interest and taking steps to preserve the truth about the Great Patriotic War, thwart attempts to falsify its history, and oppose disinformation campaigns about World War II.
Belarus will also coordinate the implementation of the plan of activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the CIS.
