Belarus to attend CIS IPA session in Samarkand

MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation led by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova has headed for Uzbekistan to attend a session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA), BelTA learned from the press service of the upper chamber of Belarusian parliament.

The events of the CIS IPA autumn session will take place in Uzbekistan's Samarkand on 27-28 October. Heads and members of parliamentary delegations of the CIS IPA member states, as well as representatives of international organizations, scientists and experts will take part in the events.

The meetings of the IPA Standing Commissions on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sport, Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Environment, Political Affairs and International Cooperation will be held on 27 October. On the same day young MPs of CIS member states will gather for a session of the Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

A session of the CIS IPA Council, the Assembly's governing body, will also be held on 27 October. The heads of the parliamentary delegations will discuss topical issues of cooperation, take stock of the activities carried out in 2022, and hear information about the observation of election campaigns in the CIS.

The 54th plenary session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly will be held on 28 October. MPs are set to consider a big number of model electoral laws. They will be also presented a number of other bills to be used in national legislations of CIS countries in the future.
