MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) - The bill to terminate the agreement on scientific, technological and engineering cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine was ratified at a sitting of the second session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation, BelTA learned.
The bill was submitted to the House of Representatives by the Council of Ministers on 9 April. It terminates the agreement on scientific, technological and engineering cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine signed in Chernigov on 29 May 2002.
Actual interaction with the Ukrainian side under the agreement has not been carried out since 2021. Serious obstacles to the arrangements reached under the agreement include the impossibility of mutual settlements between economic entities of Belarus and Ukraine, and the lack of opportunities to use the territory of Ukraine as a platform in the logistics chain, as an initial or final transportation point.
Given the absence of prerequisites for the establishment of Ukrainian-Belarusian relations within the framework of the agreement at this stage, the decision to terminate it was recognized the most expedient one.
As a result of the termination of the agreement, measures will be taken to terminate the protocols to it, which are its integral part:
Protocol to the agreement on scientific, technological and engineering cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine signed in Minsk on 16 June 2003;
Protocol between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on amendments to the protocol to the agreement on scientific, technological and engineering cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 16 June 2003, signed in Kiev on 18 September 2012;
